Mike Miller says the Miami Heat are not done making moves

Pat Riley Says 'There's No Doubt' Heat 'Have to Make Changes' in 2025 NBA Free Agency

The Miami Heat plugged a major hole on their roster when they traded forwards Kevin Love and Kyle Anderson to the Utah Jazz in a three-team trade for guard Norman Powell.

Powell brings efficient three-level scoring to the table for a Heat team that averaged just 95.5 points per game against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 2025 NBA Playoffs.

He is fresh off averaging 21.8 points per game with the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2024-25 season.

Team president Pat Riley and company deserve a pat on the back for trading for a player of Powell’s caliber without having to give up all that much, but former Heat player Mike Miller thinks that Riley is “not done” making moves.

Mike Miller says Pat Riley is NOT done making moves after trading for Norman Powell 👀

“I still don’t believe it moves the needle for championship. You know what I do know? Coach Riley’s not done”

Forward Andrew Wiggins is a Heat player who has seen his name in some trade rumors this offseason, and he’s been linked to the Milwaukee Bucks and Clippers.

While there are several reasons why it would make sense for the Heat to hold onto Wiggins past this offseason, for one because he’s perhaps Miami’s best scoring option at the wing position, his contractual situation makes him an obvious trade candidate.

Wiggins is set to get paid more than $28.2 million in the coming 2025-26 season, but he has a player option on his deal for the 2026-27 campaign. That means there’s a real possibility that he hits unrestricted free agency in the summer of 2026.

Maybe the Heat should try to move Wiggins in a deal this offseason for a bona fide star, which is something the team has debatably been lacking since it traded forward Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors ahead of the trade deadline.

For as great an offensive player as Powell is, it’s arguable as to whether he’s a solidified star. He never averaged 20-plus points per game in a full season before the 2024-25 campaign.

Hopefully, Miller will be proven right and Riley still has more tricks up his sleeve to help improve the roster in the near future. Whether or not the Heat will be able to reel in a big fish one way or another this summer remains to be seen, though.
