Arsenal are said to be monitoring a highly rated Tottenham Hotspur talent ahead of a potential summer move.
Tottenham’s disappointing run continued with another setback against Brighton on Saturday, April 18, leaving Roberto De Zerbi and fans increasingly concerned as the club are expected to end the weekend in the relegation zone, regardless of other results involving West Ham and Nottingham Forest.
Despite taking a lead twice through Pedro Porro and a brilliant effort from Xavi Simons, Spurs were eventually held after strikes from Kaoru Mitoma and Georginio Rutter, extending their winless Premier League run into 2026.
With only five league games remaining, Spurs now face a serious survival battle, with relegation threatening major financial consequences. Such a scenario could also force several key players to consider their futures, including standout performer Lucas Bergvall, who was named Player of the Season for 2024/25.
The Swedish midfielder was previously linked with moves to Aston Villa and Chelsea in January, though nothing came of it at the time.
Fresh reports now suggest Arsenal are showing interest in the 20-year-old, with Chelsea also still keeping tabs on him, according to CaughtOffside.
Tottenham are believed to consider Bergvall a key asset and ideally not for sale, although some sources indicate they may listen to offers north of £50 million.
A direct transfer from Spurs to Arsenal has not happened since Sol Campbell’s controversial switch in 2001.
Barcelona are also reportedly interested, having previously tried to sign him in 2024, but were turned down.
Bergvall joined Spurs from Djurgården in 2023 and has already made 75 appearances, scoring twice and providing nine assists, while also featuring in their 2024/25 Europa League triumph.
It is still uncertain whether the midfielder wants to leave, but staying with Spurs in the Championship, should relegation happen, is seen as unlikely for a player of his profile.
He remains under contract until 2031 after signing an extension in April 2025 and earns around £75,000 per week, according to Capology.
Tottenham’s next fixture is against Wolves on April 25, a side also battling to avoid relegation.
