The Kansas City Chiefs lost one of their key offensive lineman this offseason, but they got another one signed for years to come.
They reached a notable deal with guard Trey Smith, signing him to a four-year contract extension worth $94 million.
That will make him the highest-paid interior lineman in the history of the NFL.
Smith recently sent Chiefs fans a message about his excitement and commitment to the organization.
“Chiefs Kingdom, got the deal done. Really excited to be back for four more years. Can’t tell you how much of a blessing, how grateful I am for it. I want to live up to it,” Smith said.

The Chiefs will give him $70 million guaranteed, which is also an NFL record for an interior offensive lineman.
Smith is coming off the first Pro Bowl selection of his career.
A sixth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, he’s started 67 of 68 possible games since he entered the league, becoming a stalwart on the offensive line and establishing himself as a physical force.
The Chiefs traded All-Pro left guard Joe Thuney to the Chicago Bears in a salary cap-clearing move this offseason.
Now, they hope to put an end to their years of struggles at left tackle after selecting Josh Simmons in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
