PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -It is a new football address for Bay and Florida State alum Janarius Robinson. After spending four seasons in the NFL, the first two with first the Vikings and then the eagles, and the last two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, the 2016 Bay graduate has moved back east a little. Robinson signed a one-year free agent deal with the Kansas City Chiefs back in April. So, Janarius is now with the franchise that’s won three Super Bowl titles since 2020. Tuesday afternoon I caught up with Janarius who is currently in K.C. preparing for OTA’s or Organized Team Activities there next week. He explained to me how he wound up going from the Raiders to the Chiefs this off season. “So, I was on my last, I signed a two-year deal with the Raiders in 2023, so my contract ended this last off season.” Robinson said. “So I had the opportunity to go back there, or you know explore free agency. And that’s what I ultimately did. I had the opportunity to come to the Chiefs, and I took that opportunity. I can’t be more excited that I have for this upcoming season. ” Janarius says among the most exciting aspects is going to a franchise that is always competing for a ring and he’s hoping to help that cause. ”I had a couple of opportunities around the league. I feel like this was the best one for me, you know teaming up with Chris Jones and those guys on the D-line. You know Mike Danna, George Karlaftis. And also teaming up with a good team that is ring-chasing, who’s been there, who’s done it, who’s been at that mountain top and trying to get back to it. So, I said why not go here, it’s a wonderful opportunity for me to come here and prove myself and do what I need to do in order to excel my career. ”
Robinson and I also talked about his once again hosting a Win Within football camp at the end of this month for area kids more on that as that event gets closer.
