Arsenal working on deal to sign ‘one of the best wingers in the world’ instead of Williams.

According to reports, Arsenal is negotiating to sign ‘one of the finest wingers in the world’ instead of Williams.

Arsenal is reportedly considering a move for AC Milan’s star winger Rafael Leao should they decide to let Gabriel Martinelli go this summer, as disclosed by former scout Mick Brown.

The Gunners have faced five consecutive seasons without silverware, increasing the pressure on Mikel Arteta and his team to secure titles for their supporters.

This summer is anticipated to be active, with new sporting director Andrea Berta expected to oversee a spending spree of up to £300 million to enhance the squad for the upcoming season, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.

Arsenal particularly needs reinforcements in their attacking lineup, as they have struggled to generate sufficient goals due to inconsistent performances from players like Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.

Consequently, the North London club is eyeing a remarkable acquisition in Leao, who is regarded as one of the top wingers globally.

Brown, in an interview with Football Insider, confirmed that Leao is on Arsenal’s radar and would seamlessly integrate into Arteta’s tactical framework.

He stated, *‘Rafael Leao is among the players Arsenal has been monitoring. They have been interested in him since the beginning of the season and possibly even earlier, recognizing the issues they have in that position. He is direct, fast, and skillful, which aligns perfectly with the type of winger they need. He enjoys taking on defenders, stretching defenses, and making impactful contributions in attack. Arsenal has missed having such a player this season, as aside from Saka, they lack decisive players in the final third who can make a significant impact.’*

With 12 goals and 11 assists across 50 matches in all competitions, Leao, once referred to as *‘one of the best wingers in the world’*, has emerged as one of AC Milan’s key attacking players this season. He has also earned 39 caps for the Portugal national team, netting five goals during that time.

The Rossoneri are unwilling to let their star player go for a low price, having set a €100m (£83m) valuation on him. This amount may be excessive for Arsenal, who have several other pressing needs to address this summer.

Additionally, both Liverpool and Barcelona are interested in acquiring him, with Liverpool particularly viewing the 25-year-old as a possible successor to Luis Diaz.

Concurrently, Arsenal is also looking to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao, with Berta reportedly prioritizing this deal for the summer.
