The Mets added bullpen depth over the weekend.

New York acquired right-hander Justin Garza from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for cash considerations.

“Good arm,” Met manager Carlos Mendoza said, via SNY. “With the ability to throw strikes, that’s what I’m getting…. A guy that has options, obviously. But he’s a strike thrower.”

Garza, 31, has pitched 17 2/3 innings for San Francisco’s Triple-A affiliate this year, posting a 6.11 ERA and 1.47 WHIP with 20 strikeouts.

Garza last appeared in a major league game in 2023 for the Boston Red Sox. He also spent part of the 2021 season in the big leagues with Cleveland.

He appeared in 17 games for Boston in 2023 and pitched to a 7.36 ERA.
