The Chiefs-Titans L’Jarius Sneed trade is now complete

Chính thức: Titans có được Chiefs Cornerback L'Jarius Sneed thông qua trao đổi

Now that we’re through the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the trade between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans in which cornerback L’Jarius Sneed went to the Titans is now complete.

Let’s see how it all shook out:

Revisiting the original trade terms

  • Chiefs receive: Tennessee’s 2024 seventh-round pick (221) and Tennessee’s 2025 third-round pick (66)
  • Titans receive: Kansas City’s 2024 seventh-round pick (252) and cornerback L’Jarius Sneed

Tennessee’s 2024 seventh-round pick (221)

In the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Kansas City traded this selection as part of the package it sent to the Buffalo Bills for the 28th overall pick, which was used to select wide receiver Xavier Worthy.

The Bills then used the pick to select offensive tackle Travis Clayton, an English player and member of the International Player Pathway Program (IPPP). He was placed on injured reserve in August of 2024.

Tennessee’s 2025 third-round pick (66)

With the 66th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Chiefs selected Lousiville pass rusher Ashton Gillette. Our Caleb James has already analyzed how he may fit with Kansas City:

Gillote projects to become a Swiss army knife-style defensive lineman for the Chiefs. Even if he does not have a defined role right away, they will be able to play “matchup roulette on a week-in and week-out basis and find the spot where he can be most effective. I would not put it past the Chiefs to try him on some snaps as an inside pass rusher to use his speed early on, but his ability to move in space should have him taking consistent snaps at defensive end by the end of the season.

Kansas City’s 2024 seventh-round pick (252)

The Titans kept the pick, selecting Michigan pass rusher Jaylen Harrell. Harrell appeared in all 17 regular-season games for Tennessee, logging 27% of defensive snaps and 44% of special-teams snaps. In a rotational role, he managed 13 tackles, including two for a loss.

Cornerback L’Jarius Sneed

The Titans immediately signed Sneed to a four-year, $76.4 million extension (including $55 million guaranteed).

The cornerback’s first season in Tennessee was short-lived, lasting only five games. Against Indianapolis, Sneed took a helmet shot to his quadriceps. Though the injury was initially believed to be a bruise, it would later be revealed to be a strain that required surgery.

The quad injury officially ended his season, and he would finish with just 23 tackles in 226 snaps. Sneed remains under contract with the Titans until 2028.
