Mets Owner Sends Message After Phillies Game

Mets owner Steve Cohen considering trade deadline selloff, but Showalter, Eppler safe through season | AP News

The New York Mets are one of the hottest teams in baseball.

They currently lead all of MLB in total wins with 18, and have a commanding five-game lead in their division just 25 games into their season.

With stars such as Juan Soto, Pete Alonso, and Francisco Lindor, the Mets look to build off of their magical 2024 season in which they made it to the NLCS.

The team with MLB’s highest payroll looks to be paying massive dividends for New York.

After originally buying the team for $2.4 billion back in 2020, it sure seems like Mets owner Steve Cohen is enjoying the early-season success.

After a sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies, Cohen took to his X account to express his excitement about New York’s season so far.

“We need to keep riding this wave,” he wrote.

“There will be mean reverson at some point, but there is something special happening at Citifield. So much fun !” We need to keep riding this wave .

There will be mean reverson at some point but there is something special happening at Citifield. So much fun !

Cohen has had plenty to celebrate so far this season. His Mets are a National League East best 18-7 and are winners of seven straight games. This includes a four-game sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals and a three-game sweep against the division rival Phillies.

New York has sported the best pitching staff in baseball this season, as their cumulative 2.34 ERA is tops in the Majors. On the offensive side of the ball, they rank 10th in terms of slugging percentage with a .398 clip.

The Mets have certainly hit their stride in this beginning part of the season.
