The New York Yankees had an eventful offseason. While the 2025 MLB season has been underway for more than two weeks, the Yankees are still feeling the reverberations from failing to win the 2024 World Series.
Upon their loss to the champion, Los Angeles Dodgers, they spent the majority of their offseason sweet talking four-time, All-Star Juan Soto, only for Soto to bolt for the Yankees’ crosstown rival, New York Mets.
As the dirt cleared on Soto’s free agent swing and a miss, the Yankees settled on a starting outfield of Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, and Jasson Dominguez.
Dominguez, who has been in the Yankees organization since being signed in 2019, is finally getting the opportunity to seize the full-time job in left field. Through his first 15 games, he has yet to disappoint.
On Tuesday night, Dominguez played what could be his best game as a Yankee, going 3-for-3, including a bases-clearing, 3-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning.
While his swing was awkward, bashing himself in the back of the head on his own follow through, Dominguez drove the ball all the way to the left-field wall, giving the Yankees a 4-2 lead over the Kansas City Royals.

As Dominguez finished his celebration from second base, he could be seen wincing in pain. It appears the impact of his own bat left him feeling uncomfortable.
There is no official word that Dominguez suffered an injury on the play, but he was removed from the game to start the top of the seventh inning. Trent Grisham entered the game as a defensive replacement.
Dominguez’s defense has been a hot topic amongst Yankees faithful heading into his first full season in Major League Baseball. While manager, Aaron Boone, continues to defend his 22-year-old outfielder, Boone also continues to replace him in high-leverage defensive situations.
After his clutch performance at the plate in the 4-2 win over the Royals, Dominguez raised his batting average to .275.
The MLB world will await word from Yankees management if Dominguez was pulled form the game due to potential self-inflicted injury or for a defensive replacement.
