Trade rumors are heating up across the NBA with the Feb. 6 trade deadline approaching, and one team that could be a seller ahead of that deadline is the Chicago Bulls.
The Bulls are in 10th place in the Eastern Conference with a 20-27 record, and while they might reach the play-in tournament, they aren’t going anywhere in the postseason with their current roster.
One player they’re rumored to be open to trading is center Nikola Vucevic, but they reportedly turned down an offer from the Atlanta Hawks that would’ve given them big man Clint Capela in return for Vucevic because they wanted more in return, per NBACentral.
But he is still a very productive player — he’s averaging 20.1 points and 10.3 rebounds a game while shooting 54.9 percent from the field and 39.8 percent from 3-point range.
The Hawks are just one spot ahead of Chicago with a 22-25 record, and they have been trying to assemble a competitive roster around Trae Young for the last few years.
Vucevic would’ve given them a center who has made the All-Star team twice and allowed them to neutralize top-shelf big men in the East such as the New York Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns, Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo.
It is thought that the Bulls are also open to moving another two-time All-Star in guard Zach LaVine, whose name has come up in many trade rumors over the last couple of years.
