Chiefs predicted to add 1,555-yard TE as Travis Kelce heir image

The Kansas City Chiefs have been fortunate to have Travis Kelce with the team over the last 12 years.

Kelce is a future Hall of Famer and is coming off yet another great season. He racked up 97 receptions for 823 receiving yards throughout the regular season across 16 games played. The Chiefs already have the No. 1 seed locked up and it seems like a near guarantee that Kelce won’t play in Week 18.

No matter what happens, Kelce is a Kansas City legend and one of the biggest reasons why the team has won three Super Bowls in recent years and could go for another this year. While this is the case, he now is 35 years old and it’s unknown how long he wants to play. Hopefully, he comes back next year at least.

Even if he does, it could make sense to add an heir to learn the ropes from him. Because of this, Bleacher Report’s scouting department predicted the Chiefs will draft tight end Harold Fannin Jr. out of Bowling Green this upcoming offseason.

“2025 NFL Draft: TE Harold Fannin Jr., Bowling Green,” Bleacher Report said. “Travis Kelce can’t play forever. The 35-year-old’s numbers have slowly declined over the last three seasons and he’s been in the league for 12 years. Even if he doesn’t hang them up this offseason, the time is coming soon.

“Drafting Harold Fannin Jr. would give the Chiefs an heir apparent. Dame Parson compared him to Isaiah Likely and likes his ability to line up all over the formation and create mismatches all over the place. The MAC star would give the Chiefs a solid succession plan for Kelce’s eventual retirement.”

Fannin is having an eye-popping season. He has racked up 117 receptions and 1,555 receiving yards this season in 13 games played. Fannin is the type of talent the Chiefs should consider pairing with Kelce so the team is set in the long term.
