November may be firmly fixated in our rearview mirrors, but Thanksgiving for us carries on for 12 months. That’s especially true during the 18 weeks we refer to as the Philadelphia Eagles regular season. Remember how bored we were at the end of June?
These days, the discussions about our Birds occur so frequently that we’re never short of stories to write about. Gosh, this is so much fun.
Three Birds are the topic today: Darius Slay. Jordan Mailata, and Brandon Graham.
Philly released their first injury report of Week 14. Four Eagles didn’t participate in Wednesday’s session: Reed Blankenship (concussion), Sydney Brown (knee), Britain Covey (neck), and Dallas Goedert (knee).
More Eagles news: Jordan Mailata is PFF’s highest-graded NFL player heading into Week 14.
Jordan Mailata’s meteoric rise continues. This is a former seventh-round draft choice who didn’t know how to put his helmet on when he arrived at the NovaCare Complex.
He’s now one of the best left tackles in football. After Week 13 in the NFL wrapped, he was the Pro Football Focus’s highest graded player.
Maybe this is bad parenting, but when the kids get a little older, I plan on often using Jordan Mailata as a teaching point. His story is proof anything is possible.
These stories are ignored by Hollywood studios for lacking realism, but we all saw Jordan’s play out. He continues to live the dream, and we’re proud of him. Click here to see his recent feature on the Eagles’ Unscripted series.
Brandon Graham is always smiling (and talking trash). He’s one of the league’s good guys though. No one has to tell the Eagles organization that. He is again Philadelphia’s Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee.
B.G. has long been a pillar in the Eagles Autism Foundation’s fundraising events. He also manages the Team Graham Fund which offers its time and resources to various organizations and causes in Detroit.
He is also currently enjoying his sixth season as a team captain. This is his second nomination for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in three seasons.
