Liverpool Confirm Permanent Transfer as Young Winger Begins New Chapter ✍️🔴 – SPORTENTZ

Liverpool FC have officially confirmed the departure of promising young winger Trent Kone-Doherty, who has completed a permanent move to Norwegian side Molde FK. The transfer was finalized weeks after the January window closed in England due to Norway’s transfer market still being open.

A Move That Happened After the Transfer Window

While the English transfer window had already shut, the deal was still possible because clubs in Norway can sign players until April 1, ahead of their domestic league season. This allowed Molde to secure the 19-year-old winger despite the window in England closing earlier.

The teenager has signed a four-year contract with the Norwegian club as he looks to take the next step in his career and gain regular first-team opportunities.

Kone-Doherty’s Journey at Liverpool

Kone-Doherty joined Liverpool’s academy from Irish club Derry City FC in 2022. During his time on Merseyside, he developed through the club’s youth ranks, featuring regularly for the U18, U19, and U21 teams.

Although most of his appearances came at youth level, he also managed to break into the senior squad, making two first-team appearances:

  • An FA Cup match against Plymouth Argyle in 2025
  • A League Cup game against Crystal Palace later that year

Despite showing promise, competition for attacking places made it difficult for the youngster to secure consistent minutes with the first team.

Player Reaction to the Move

After signing with Molde, Kone-Doherty shared his excitement about the new challenge ahead. The winger explained that he believes the club is the right environment for him to continue developing and show his attacking qualities.

He also described himself as a player who loves to entertain supporters and play with confidence on the pitch.

A Fresh Start in Norway

The move could prove perfect timing for the Irish youth international. Norway’s top-flight season begins in March, meaning he could quickly integrate into the squad and potentially make his debut early in the campaign.

For Liverpool, the transfer represents another academy graduate moving on to pursue first-team football elsewhere — while the club continues to monitor his development from afar.

Final Thoughts

Young talents often need regular minutes to unlock their potential, and Molde may provide exactly that for Kone-Doherty. If he impresses in Norway, this transfer could be the start of a much bigger journey in European football.
