WINDY CITY SHAKE-UP: Rumors swirl as the Bulls are tipped to shop their $60 million two-time All-Star, signaling the end of an era in Chicago, with front office whispers hinting a full-blown rebuild is finally on the horizon… ll

Bulls predicted to put $60 million two-time All-Star up on trade block to commit to a full rebuild imageThe Chicago Bulls have a big decision for the 2025-26 season: whether or not to hit the big red button and fully commit to a rebuild.

Fansided’s Bryan Toporek believes they should, and they should start it by trading Nikola Vucevic.

“The Chicago Bulls refuse to commit to a full-on rebuild, although they dipped their toes into those waters at last year’s trade deadline by shipping Zach LaVine to the Sacramento Kings for Kevin Huerter, Zach Collins, Tre Jones and the first-round pick that they’d later spend on Noa Essengue. Could Nikola Vučević be next?” Toporek wrote.

Toporek continued, noting the 34-year-old center doesn’t really fit in with the young roster, and the Bulls have tried to trade him before.

“There was a “growing sense” that the Bulls would flip him by last year’s trade deadline, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, although no deal came to fruition…The 34-year-old is now heading into the last year of his current contract and sticks out like a sore thumb on a roster that’s otherwise teeming with 20-somethings,” Toporek noted.

Last season, the two-time All-Star averaged 17.2 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game in 73 games played. He would be a great starting center for any contender that needs one, and should be in high demand at the trade deadline.

Hopefully, the Bulls start testing the waters soon, as if they really want to commit to their young core, they need to cut out any star veteran presence.
