(AP Photo\/Chris Szagola)AP<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p id=\"YRPWGJ6UJZE5JEVHXJX3FAJUMA\"><b>PHILADELPHIA \u2014<\/b> After another miserable loss \u2014 where the Mets choked away a four-run lead in a 6-4 decision to the Phillies on Thursday night at Citizens Bank Park, manager Carlos Mendoza knew exactly who to blame.<\/p>\n<p id=\"H7JBAQBCKNG65HRGR2NDH3MUYY\">\u201cI\u2019m responsible,\u201d he told reporters outside the Mets clubhouse.<\/p>\n<p id=\"EGHXJPBKL5CSJL7HERIZXXYTX4\">But, like he has after every loss in this four-game sweep at the hands of the Mets\u2019 division rivals, Mendoza exuded unwavering confidence in his team after the game.<\/p>\n<p id=\"LHBAG62ZBZDKPGSQ62PTRV2PGA\">\u201cI\u2019m the manager, so it\u2019s my job to get these guys going, and I will,\u201d Mendoza added. \u201cI\u2019ve got a lot of confidence in myself, my coaches, and the players. It\u2019s not easy right now, and we\u2019re all frustrated, but look, like I said, we\u2019ve still got an opportunity to achieve our goal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"HT7JYLDI3RC67KOJWW4WYEWG4A\">Mendoza had better move fast, because time is running out.<\/p>\n<p id=\"5SPDNIDBUNAHTJHWZ5DSNROFOI\">The Mets entered the series trailing the Phillies by seven games in the NL East. A Mets sweep would have put them within three games of the division. They held a four-game lead for the third NL Wild Card spot and had a 93.4% chance of making the playoffs, according to FanGraphs.<\/p>\n<p id=\"VFU6CNLXRJGQVPGI7M6TQDH5AI\">Now, they\u2019re 11 games out in the division and clinging to a 1 1\/2-game lead over the San Francisco Giants and Cincinnati Reds for the third NL Wild Card spot. Their postseason hopes are down to 78.2%.<\/p>\n<p id=\"JCC2SJF7AREHBMGENAAAYTE3IY\">\u201cWe\u2019ve got to play better. Simple as that,\u201d said Mets starter David Peterson, who allowed three runs over five innings against the Phillies. \u201cWe\u2019ve seen what this group can do, and we\u2019ve got 15 (games) left and gotta take care of business.<\/p>\n<p id=\"OL3MVE4PJFA2TNDVH23L6WTCUA\">\u201cThe past is the past. We need to let it go and play better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"73PTIJ2VOVBSRJIF3QFHPYAJFQ\">Looking ahead, the Mets have nine games remaining with opponents with records above .500 (tough opponents). That\u2019s the most among the teams they\u2019re either chasing or trying to stave off for playoff positioning.<\/p>\n<p id=\"AY5GOJAQK5CIXPZR22VOSY4WCQ\"><i><b>Mets -1.5 runline is +172 on <\/b><\/i>DraftKings<i><b> for Friday\u2019s game against the Rangers.
