Travis Kelce is joining the growing list of celebrities embracing the \u2018iceberg house\u2019 trend.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The\u00a0NFL\u00a0star became the\u00a0highest paid tight end in league history\u00a0when he signed a new contract ahead of the current season, and his fame has shot up since he starting dating pop sensation Taylor Swift.<\/p>\n

And it seems\u00a0Kelce\u00a0is using some of his wealth to make his home even more private.<\/p>\n

Kelce owns a $6m mansion in Leawood, Kansas, which is about 20 minutes away from the Kansas City Chiefs\u2019 Arrowhead Stadium.\u00a0His home was recently targeted by burglars, who took $20,000 from the house as part of a crime spree that also targeted his Chiefs teammate, Patrick Mahomes.<\/p>\n

Swift often spends time at the property, which is part of a luxury, gated community, and it already boasts six bedrooms, a pickleball court and miniature golf course.<\/p>\n

But Kelce is now reportedly building an \u2018underground man cave\u2019 which will be large enough to house an indoor golf simulator.<\/p>\n

The first phase of construction is said to be finished by December, and the new feature is sure to attract more visits from Travis\u2019 brother Jason, and Mahomes \u2013 both keen golfers.<\/p>\n

The trend for luxury underground spaces, known as the \u2018iceberg house\u2019, is on the rise. As well as privacy, it can help get around planning regulations and\u00a0preserve beautiful views above ground.\u00a0However, it can make construction more complicated and extremely expensive.<\/p>\n

According to the Robb Report, it\u2019s a real estate trend that is unlikely to stop any time soon.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere has been a noticeable rise in demand for iceberg homes, and I believe their popularity will continue to grow in the coming years,\u201d said Zoltan E Pali, co-founder of Los Angeles-based architecture studio SPF.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ability to create expansive spaces that are hidden from view allows homeowners to enjoy their amenities without drawing attention, which is particularly appealing in celebrity-dense areas like Los Angeles.\u201d<\/p>\n
