The Celtics are scheduled to celebrate their NBA-record 18th championship at the White House on Thursday afternoon ahead of their Friday night matchup with the Washington Wizards.<\/p>\n

Forward Al Horford, who visited the White House after winning back-to-back national championships with Florida during his college days, looked back at the visit with fond memories.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was awesome,\u201d Horford said. \u201cThat was a really cool experience getting to go to the White House, to be there. We had a blast.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey did the thing on the lawn over there outside in the courtyard and there were other college teams at the time there as well,\u201d he added. \u201cSo, it was cool to interact with some of them and do that stuff. It\u2019s a really good experience. It\u2019s an honor to be able to go to the White House.\u201d<\/p>\n

Horford said he is thrilled to return to the White House this week now that he has an NBA title under his belt.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s going to be awesome,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m excited about it. It\u2019s something that over the years, you always watch the champions go there. Being in this position, I\u2019m going to soak it all in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jayson Tatum is looking forward to wearing his championship ring during the ceremony.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m bringing mine for the pictures. You too cool to wear it?\u201d Tatum asked Derrick White.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll think about it. I didn\u2019t know that was a thing. That\u2019s good to know,\u201d White responded.\u201d<\/p>\n

White is excited to take in the experience with his teammates.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is probably the last thing we\u2019ll do that\u2019s going to be about last season\u2019s championship,\u201d White said. \u201cBut it\u2019s going to be a cool experience, and I\u2019m going to enjoy it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla smiled and said \u201cno sir\u201d when asked if he had any thoughts about the upcoming trip.<\/p>\n

Sam Hauser said he was excited because you never know when such an opportunity will come again. The last time the Celtics visited the White House was in 2008 during the George W. Bush administration.<\/p>\n

Tatum said the opportunity to make lasting memories will make the trip a cool one.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it will be cool,\u201d Tatum said. \u201cOne of the perks of being a champion is going to the White House, and you\u2019ve seen most of the former teams attend.
