Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are tying the knot \u2014 and Kansas Citians say they\u2019re excited for the next chapter in the pop star and football player\u2019s \u201cLove Story.\u201d The couple announced their engagement on Tuesday through an Instagram post that reached 16 million likes within three hours.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s already created a frenzy of attention online, from celebrity shoutouts to estimations of the large diamond ring\u2019s cost.<\/p>\n
The Grammy Award winner and Superbowl champion began dating around two years ago.<\/p>\n
Swift first caught Kelce\u2019s eye at her July 8, 2023, Kansas City stop on her Eras Tour. Later, Kelce said he had hoped to give her a friendship bracelet with his number on it after the show.<\/p>\n
And now, fans know the answer to whether Kelce will \u201cmarry, kiss or kill\u201d Swift, as she sang in one of her songs about Kelce called \u201cSo High School.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Star spoke to Kansas Citians in a few coffee shops in the Crossroads Tuesday afternoon who expressed their enthusiasm about the news, both for what it means for the couple and what it means for the city that started it all.<\/p>\n
\u2018A pivotal moment\u2019 Kindra Vickers, a fan of Swift since her early country music days, said she has been following Swift and Kelce\u2019s relationship and is \u201cso excited for them.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cIt was just the most beautiful, \u2018You Belong With Me\u2019 type of engagement,\u201d Vickers said. As someone who works in public relations, Vickers said she can already anticipate the work of Swift\u2019s publicist to prevent any leaks to a future Vogue cover full of wedding photos.<\/p>\n Vickers also addressed the \u201chaters,\u201d declaring the couple\u2019s love real. \u201cIf you think that this is also a PR stunt, just watch the interview with them together,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cLook at the love in their eyes, and get over it.\u201d Chloe Rothery agreed with Vickers and said she thinks Kelce seems proud to be with Swift.<\/p>\n To Rothery, the two are \u201cendgame,\u201d she said, adding that the engagement was \u201clife changing.\u201d \u201cI teared up a little bit \u2014 had to call my mom, my sister, my friends,\u201d Rothery said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was definitely a pivotal moment in my life.\u201d Chiefs Kingdom wedding? Like other Swifties and Chiefs fans, Rothery said she\u2019s hopeful that the couple\u2019s marriage will keep Swift tied to Kansas City.<\/p>\n \u201cI would love to say she\u2019s going to get married in Kansas City and her kids will go to school here and they\u2019ll live happily ever after,\u201d Rothery said.<\/p>\n Others ventured guesses as to where the wedding would take place.<\/p>\n Madalyn Boguslaw, a wedding photographer, predicted venues in downtown KC. \u201cI think that they would end up probably doing something at the Nelson or on the lawn of the Liberty Memorial,\u201d Boguslaw said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt would be artsy and eclectic and unique, just like their engagement was.\u201d Some Chiefs fans, like Will Collins, acknowledged the contributions Swift has already made to their home team \u2014 bringing more fans to the sport.<\/p>\n \u201cYou can tell by the market of Taylor Swift\u2019s fans. Everyone who didn\u2019t like football, now they like football,\u201d he said. \u201cYou can\u2019t deny that.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Collins said he expects Swift to bring even more attention to Kansas City and added that he could see a Taylor Swift museum in the city\u2019s future.<\/p>\n If you ask Alexa Larrabee, the Chiefs are important enough to Kelce that he may want the wedding at Arrowhead Stadium.<\/p>\n Although, Larrabee said she predicts Swift would prefer an intimate venue in the Crossroads.
