Downing-Imagn Images\" \/><\/figure>\n<article class=\"article-body prose max-w-none pb-7 pt-5 prose-figure:max-w-full prose-ol:pl-10 prose-img:max-w-full prose-video:max-w-full md:prose-ol:pl-6 [&amp;_iframe]:m-auto [&amp;_iframe]:block [&amp;_iframe]:max-w-full\">It has been\u00a0an uncharacteristically quiet season for Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star Mookie Betts,\u00a0but the three-time World Series champion has attempted to make the most out of the campaign\u2019s final few months.<\/p>\n<p>Despite some early struggles, Betts has started to play more efficiently at shortstop. According to baseball Savant, he ranks in the 88th percentile in Range and\u00a0the 74th percentile in Fielding Run Value.<\/p>\n<p>Despite being a natural outfielder, the 32-year-old has now played the position for a number of years, and is\u00a0not surprised\u00a0to have recently found his footing.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI feel like that was mostly to y\u2019all, not to me,\u201d Betts told The Athletic\u2019s Ken Rosenthal. \u201cI know what I\u2019m capable of, what I can do.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Betts has also started to heat up at the dish.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEarlier this month, Mookie Betts told reporters, \u201cMy season\u2019s kind of over,\u201d saying it will be impossible to reach his normal numbers, and that he will just try to do what he can to help the team,\u201d Rosenthal wrote.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThose comments seemingly liberated Betts \u2014 he has batted .348 with two homers and an .874 OPS in his last 17 games. But Betts was dismissive of that notion, saying he simply has found a cue that is working for him. After recovering from his early-season illness, he tried too hard to generate power. Now that he\u2019s focusing on singles, he\u2019s in a better place.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Across 120 games this season, he has hit 13 home runs and posted a .689 OPS. While he will not end the year with pristine marks, the former MVP could potentially stay hot as the Dodgers attempt to make another deep run in October.<\/p>\n<p>Betts\u2019 comfort at shortstop and ability to string together consistent at-bats could prove to be pivotal parts of the\u00a0Dodgers\u2019 attempt to beat out the San Diego Padres\u00a0for the National League West crown.<\/p>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star Mookie Betts recently gave an honest take regarding his success at shortstop.
