\"Nolan<\/p>\n

After a relatively easy win on Friday night to start the series in Atlanta, the Mets had themselves a second straight decisive victory against the Braves. Clay Holmes started and followed Nolan McLean\u2019s example by actually pitching into the seventh, surrendering just two runs in 6 1\/3 innings of work. If that weren\u2019t enough, the bats slugged six home runs\u2014including two from both Mark Vientos and Jeff McNeil\u2014and the defense made several sterling plays. The 9-2 win put the Mets at two and a half games ahead for the final wild card spot in the National League.<\/p>\n

Frankie Montas\u2019s season came to an unceremonious end, as the Mets placed him on the injured list with a right elbow UCL injury and called up Huascar Brazob\u00e1n to take his place on the roster. Tommy John surgery is a possibility for Montas, which would threaten his 2026 season as well.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As of right now, the Mets do not plan on inserting Brandon Sproat into the rotation. Kodai Senga will pitch on Monday on four days rest. However, according to reports, Jonah Tong\u2019s name is \u201centering the conversation\u201d for this season as he continues to dominate in Triple-A Syracuse.<\/p>\n

However, Tylor Megill is one step closer to a return, though Carlos Mendoza would not say whether Megill is going to make another start for Syracuse.<\/p>\n

There is still a lot of season left and still a lot of the story of Juan Soto\u2019s first season with the Mets to be told, writes Mike Lupica of MLB.com.<\/p>\n

The Phillies put up five runs in the fourth inning and Aaron Nola had a bounce back outing in a 6-4 victory over the Nationals.<\/p>\n

But the Phillies also got some bad news today: Zack Wheeler will undergo surgery for venous thoracic outlet syndrome, ending his 2025 season.<\/p>\n

The Marlins fell to the Blue Jays 7-6 in a twelve-inning heartbreaker.<\/p>\n
