According to one insider, former Washington Wizards guard Malcolm Brogdon is expected to land in the Bay as Golden State continues to search for depth in the backcourt.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"821\" data-start=\"485\">It would be an intriguing move for the Warriors, who have been hamstrung by ongoing contract negotiations with Jonathan Kuminga. With those talks at a standstill, Golden State has been unable to make major additions \u2014 but Brogdon could provide a steady presence at a position of need.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1149\" data-start=\"823\">This report aligns with comments from Jake Fischer, who recently noted that Golden State \u201cstill have plenty of interest in Brogdon.\u201d Fischer also added that he does not expect Brogdon to reunite with the Milwaukee Bucks after they signed Cole Anthony.<\/p>\n<h2 data-end=\"1282\" data-start=\"1241\">Why the Warriors Need a Backup Guard<\/h2>\n<p data-end=\"1671\" data-start=\"1284\">The Warriors already boast a starting backcourt of Stephen Curry and Brandin Podziemski. While both are reliable, the team lacks a true floor general off the bench. That gap became even more apparent last season, when Golden State struggled to find consistent playmaking when Curry sat.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"2149\" data-start=\"1673\">Brogdon, 32, could be the solution. He has carved out a reputation as a capable two-way guard who can defend, initiate offense, and settle a second unit. The former Rookie of the Year averaged 12.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists last season with Washington, though his three-point percentage dipped to 28.6%. Brogdon has appeared in just 73 games over the last two seasons, struggling with various injuries. Most recently, he dealt with an ankle issue sustained against the Indiana Pacers that cost him extended time. Durability remains the biggest question mark with any potential deal.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"2824\" data-start=\"2559\">Still, the upside is hard to ignore. Brogdon won Sixth Man of the Year in 2023 and has thrived in limited roles. For a Warriors team desperate for stability off the bench, his experience and composure could outweigh the health risks \u2014 if he can stay on the floor.<\/p>\n<h2 data-end=\"2861\" data-start=\"2831\">A More Balanced Backcourt<\/h2>\n<p data-end=\"3304\" data-start=\"2863\">Golden State\u2019s offseason hasn\u2019t been without direction. The franchise reportedly has verbal agreements with multiple targets, including De\u2019Anthony Melton and Gary Payton II. Adding Brogdon to that mix would give the Warriors a much more balanced backcourt, with the defensive versatility of Melton and Payton complementing Brogdon\u2019s playmaking.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"3615\" data-start=\"3306\">If reports prove accurate, Brogdon could arrive as one of the Warriors\u2019 most impactful under-the-radar signings.
