Taylor Swift\u2019s journey to becoming a pop superstar started with her family\u2019s support. Swift\u2019s parents, Scott and Andrea Swift, and her brother, Austin Swift, have been there for the \u201cCruel Summer\u201d singer-songwriter since day one.<\/p>\n

When Taylor got a development deal with RCA Records at just 13 years old, the family uprooted themselves from Pennsylvania to the Nashville area for her career. \u201cMy parents were unbelievable,\u201d she recalled in a\u00a02019 interview\u00a0on\u00a0CBS Sunday Morning<\/em>. \u201cI will never forget that. And my brother [Austin]. My brother\u2019s a real bro for doing that.\u201d<\/p>\n

It all began with a love story: Scott Swift, a stockbroker (and later, vice president at Merrill Lynch) married former mutual fund marketing executive Andrea Swift in February 1988. The couple welcomed their first child, Taylor Alison Swift, on December 13, 1989. They expanded their family a little over two years later, welcoming son Austin Kingsley Swift on March 11, 1992.<\/p>\n

The family initially raised Taylor and Austin in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania before moving to just outside Nashville for their daughter\u2019s music career. Before he was known to Swifties as Taylor\u2019s dad, Scott Swift was a stockbroker and Vice President of Merrill Lynch. Per the financial firm\u2019s\u00a0website, he joined the company in 1980.<\/p>\n

As shown in the 2020 Netflix documentary\u00a0Miss Americana<\/em>, Scott didn\u2019t leave his strategic background behind as Taylor\u2019s career took off\u2014he actually played a major part in her business management team.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s also held the role of typical embarrassing dad, as the singer revealed in a 2009 MySpace post. \u201cMy dad is along the ride for this trip. He\u2019s a social butterfly, and loves being on tour,\u201d she wrote. \u201cHe loves it so much, he thinks it\u2019s absolutely hilarious to embarrass me as much as possible. In 2023, Scott attended the opening night of the Eras Tour, with Taylor sharing\u00a0pictures\u00a0to her Instagram Stories of the backstage pass she created for him. The DIY card read \u201cD.O.H. Pass (Dad of Headliner),\u201d an adorable memento for one of her biggest cheerleaders. \u201cMade my Dad\u2019s tour credential,\u201d the\u00a0Midnights<\/em>\u00a0singer captioned the picture, adding, \u201cWe are a small family business.\u201d<\/p>\n

Besides the obvious ways he\u2019s encouraged his daughter, the former finance executive has also made subtler shifts\u2014like going from a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan to a\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs fan\u00a0after some convincing from Taylor\u2019s boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.<\/p>\n

In the 2008 track \u201cThe Best Day,\u201d Taylor references various happy memories she made with Andrea and their family growing up. During one Eras Tour show, the artist told the audience about how she created the song without her mom\u2019s knowledge to surprise her. The first time Andrea, 67, heard it, she didn\u2019t realize it was about their relationship.<\/p>\n

Scott and Andrea Swift welcomed their second child, son Austin Kingsley Swift, on March 11, 1992. He was born in West Reading, Pennsylvania. Along with his big sister, he grew up on the family Christmas tree farm in Pennsylvania until the early 2000s, when the family moved to Tennessee.<\/p>\n

Austin graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2015, receiving a bachelor\u2019s degree in film studies, per\u00a0People<\/em>.
