Taylor Swift wrote a novel while she was a teenager<\/h2>\n

Swift grew up in Pennsylvania, but\u00a0she and her family\u00a0spend their summers on the Jersey Shore.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you say, \u2018I spent my summers at the Jersey Shore,\u2019 people always say, \u2018Oh, really?\u2019 They think\u00a0of the TV show,\u201d she told\u00a0Vogue. \u201cSo I just say, \u2018A cute little harbor town in New Jersey.\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

They had a home on the water, and Swift spent time watching the local wildlife swim past.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe lived on this basin where all this magical stuff would happen,\u201d she said. \u201cOne time a dolphin swam into our basin. We had this family of otters that would live on our dock at night. We\u2019d turn the light on and you\u2019d see them, you know, hanging out, just being otters.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, the \u201cmagical\u201d basin became an issue for her when they saw a shark. Still, the frightening discovery wasn\u2019t all bad. Swift used her time away from the water to write a book.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then one summer, there was a shark that washed up on our dock. I ended up writing a novel that summer because I wouldn\u2019t go in the water,\u201d she said. \u201cI locked myself in the den and wrote a book. When I was fourteen. Because of a shark!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
