Selena Gomez just revealed the origin story of her\u00a016-year friendship with Taylor Swift.<\/p>\n

During an August 6 appearance on the\u00a0\u201cTherapuss\u201d podcast, Gomez was asked how she met the \u201cLove Story\u201d singer.<\/p>\n

Gomez, 33, said they first crossed paths in the \u201900s when they \u201cdated the Jonas Brothers\u201d at the same time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI dated Nick and she dated Joe,\u201d Gomez said with a laugh. Swift and Joe Jonas were linked in 2008.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were young. We all know and love each other now. It\u2019s so cute. We didn\u2019t know what we were doing. But, yeah, she and I like to say that the best thing we got out of those relationships was each other because it was really sweet,\u201d Gomez added.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was about 15. She was about 18 and that\u2019s when it was the crazy curly Taylor,\u201d she said of Swift\u2019s hair. \u201cAnd she had all these bracelets that went all the way up.\u201d<\/p>\n

When both ended up splitting with their Jonas Brother boyfriends, Gomez said they \u201cbonded\u201d over the breakups.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, at that age, we became best friends, bonded over the breakup as girls do and then we stuck around for all the ups and downs that came after and here we are now 16 years later,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Gomez then recalled the first time she heard Swift\u2019s song \u201cLove Story\u201d and said she instantly knew it was a hit.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe \u2018Love Story\u2019 was the first song she had ever played me. It wasn\u2019t released yet. I was in a hotel room and I remember it vividly. It was one of those songs I instantly heard and thought, \u2018This is one of the most beautiful songs ever,’\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Gomez said Swift acted very \u201csweet\u201d when she told her about \u201cLove Story.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s a chameleon. She\u2019s incredible,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
