One year before\u00a0Ed Kelce\u2019s girlfriend,\u00a0Maureen Maguire, suddenly died at the age of 74, he gushed about her first interactions with\u00a0Taylor Swift.<\/p>\n

Swift, 35, started dating Ed\u2019s son\u00a0Travis Kelce\u00a0in summer 2023 and met his family the following fall at one of Travis\u2019 Kansas City Chiefs football games. (Ed shares Travis, 35, and Jason, 37, with ex-wife\u00a0Donna Kelce.)<\/p>\n

Ed recalled to\u00a0The Los Angeles Times\u00a0in February 2024 that at one of the games, he and Swift took a photo together.<\/p>\n

\u201cHey! That\u2019s my boyfriend,\u201d Ed recalled of what Maguire jokingly told the pop star.<\/p>\n

According to Ed, Swift then laughed, and they struck more of a \u201cfather-daughter pose.\u201d<\/p>\n

One month earlier, Ed explained during a separate interview that it was Maguire who let him know that\u00a0meeting Swift was a big deal.<\/p>\n

\u201cI met Taylor at Travis\u2019 house. When Travis has a lot of friends coming into town to the game, everyone meets at his house, although he\u2019s not there because he\u2019s sequestered with the team,\u201d Ed said during a January 2024 appearance on Audacy\u2019s 92.3 The Fan radio show. \u201cEveryone meets at the house, and they have a shuttle that comes [to] pick everyone up and take them to the game. At any given home game, you could end up with 20 people there.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cTaylor walks in with a security guy, and I look at her, and I say [to my girlfriend], \u2018Oh my God, I know this kid, but I don\u2019t know what her name is.\u2019 Jeez, you know, like a real idiot.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Ed explained that Maguire told him, \u201cYou don\u2019t know her? This is Taylor Swift, you idiot.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ed confirmed on Saturday, August 2, that Maguire had died, sharing her obituary on his Facebook page. She was 74.<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cMaureen Maguire, born November 21, 1950, in the Bronx, New York, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones,\u201d the obituary read in part. \u201cThough she began her life in New York City, Maureen spent the majority of her years in the suburbs of Philadelphia, where she built a warm and vibrant home filled with love, laughter, and family traditions.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The tribute added, \u201cIn recent years, she spent treasured time in Cape May with her family, enjoying peaceful days by the ocean. She also grew an unexpected love for football later in life, sharing\u00a0many laughs and adventures\u00a0with her beloved friend Ed Kelce and her loyal dog, Butch.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to Ed, Maguire is survived by her children from a previous marriage, as well as her grandchildren.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
