You\u2019re drenched in sweat. It\u2019s hot. Your skin is stinging cause it\u2019s hot \u2014 and I think on those days, Coach Reid is intentionally trying to see and evaluate if you can still do your job in the most chaotic, frantic of times with the most extreme circumstances.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo that\u2019s what I know is going on in the back of my mind: \u2018Can I still score a touchdown? Can I still catch the ball? Can I still square up a punt in the most extreme conditions?\u2019 Because when we get to the playoffs \u2014 when we get to the championship \u2014 that pressure is [at] a whole another level.\u201d<\/p>\n
When Reid spoke on Tuesday, he acknowledged Remigio\u2019s competitiveness in the fight to make the team\u2019s 53-man roster.<\/p>\n
\u201c[The wideouts are] competing like crazy for six or seven spots,\u201d explained Reid. \u201cThat\u2019s what you\u2019re looking at. They\u2019re in there battling their tail off to make one of those positions. Remigio\u2019s doing that. You know him, and you know how competitive of a kid he [is]. Everything he does, he\u2019s competitive. He has that punt return thing that goes into his favor, but we\u2019ve got some other guys that are fighting for that, too.\u201d<\/p>\n
Given how he entered the league, that competition is nothing new for Remigio.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s just who I am,\u201d he declared. \u201cJust my makeup, how I\u2019ve been developed, how I\u2019ve been raised. It has always revolved around competition. The only way to get to this point is to be a competitive guy \u2014 and to know how to compete and how to bounce back.\u201d<\/p>\n
A year ago \u2014 despite a similar endorsement from Toub \u2014 Remigio was waived during Kansas City\u2019s final cuts. But after a season-ending injury to Mecole Hardman, he still delivered a pair of highlight returns during the playoffs.<\/p>\n Remigio feels like the experience pushed his stress threshold in extreme circumstances to a very high level.<\/p>\n \u201cI got cut and put on practice squad,\u201d he reminded his listerners. \u201cAfter that point, I played in the playoffs. I played in the championship.
