Xavier Worthy\u00a0returned\u00a0to the practice fields on Friday and participated in full:<\/p>\n

After the speedy second-year wide receiver\u00a0banged his head while trying to make a catch Tuesday, he was evaluated Thursday, during the players\u2019 off day, and diagnosed to not have a concussion.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWe had both the NFL involved with clearing [him] with our doctors,\u201d coach Andy Reid said. \u201cHe got a little liquid in his ear, and they took care of that. It was throwing his equilibrium off just a little bit.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

As the Chiefs\u2019 fastest wide receiver, Worthy missed Wednesday\u2019s on-field work after sustaining his injury Tuesday when he tried to make a diving catch on a deep pass from quarterback\u00a0Patrick Mahomes. Worthy was targeted by Mahomes several times \u2014 and even showcased his speed while executing an end-around \u2014 during Friday\u2019s two-hour practice.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cHe kept saying, \u2018I don\u2019t feel like I have a concussion,\u2019 but you\u2019ve got to go through the protocol,\u201d Reid said. \u201cThe [doctors] examined him, and it was the liquid in the ear. He was convinced he didn\u2019t have one all along. We were cautious with it, and we\u2019re always going to do that.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

After practice, Reid acknowledged that\u00a0Josh Simmons, the Chiefs\u2019 first-round pick, will continue to receive all the first-team repetitions as the projected starting left tackle in charge of protecting Mahomes\u2019 blind side.<\/p>\n

Simmons spent the offseason recovering from a torn left patellar injury suffered in October that prematurely ended his final season at\u00a0Ohio State. The Chiefs are hopeful Simmons can be the player who finally solves their longstanding problem at left tackle.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s consistently showing up every day and working,\u201d Reid said of Simmons. \u201cHe\u2019s a worker, and he\u2019s willing to do it. You\u2019ve got to keep on going. He\u2019s done a nice job.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
