Taylor Swift has a massive catalog that doesn\u2019t come cheap, just ask comedian Marc Maron.<\/p>\n

Maron\u2019s upcoming comedy special, \u201cMarc Maron: Panicked,\u201d features Swift\u2019s ballad \u201cBigger Than the Whole Sky,\u201d as part of the closing for the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it came out to $50K, around that,\u201d Maron explained on\u00a0Vulture’s \u201cGood One\u201d podcast. \u201cI did everything I could to get the joke in front of her.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Maron really wanted to have the song in his show, as it holds a special meaning for him and details in the show, so he tried reaching out to Swift\u2019s friend and frequent producer, Jack Antonoff.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know Jack Antonoff enough to text him, and he\u2019s the co-writer on that song,\u201d the \u201cStick\u201d star said. \u201cI said, \u2018I don\u2019t know what\u2019s proper or how to do this, but we\u2019re running out of money on this thing. It\u2019s probably going to come out of my pocket. Is there anything you can do about this song or talk to Taylor?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Antonoff suggested he go through more official channels with representatives and labels, and it worked out, even with the high price tag and brief usage of the song.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was doable,\u201d Maron said. \u201cWe made enough money. It was tight, but because of the ticket sales for the special, we were able to get that song.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cMy relationship with that song, and just the fact that I\u2019m playing it on my phone, it had to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maron recently performed a cover of the song live on stage at Largo at the Coronet in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
