TROY, Ala.<\/strong>\u00a0– Troy right-handed pitcher Colby Frieda<\/dfn> signed an undrafted free agent contract with the New York Mets on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Frieda, a senior from St. John’s, Fla., spent one season in the Cardinal & White after transferring from Kentucky, making a team-leading 25 appearances out of the bullpen in 2025 while posting a 3-2 record with four saves.<\/p>\n

“Colby coming to Troy and improving enough to sign with the Mets is such a tribute to his determination,” head coach Skylar Meade<\/dfn> said. “He wanted to put himself into this position, and he earned it. The Mets will be thrilled with him as he starts his journey very soon.”<\/p>\n

In 45.1 innings, Frieda struck out 53 hitters to just 19 walks and held his opponents to a .224 batting average, ranking ninth in the Sun Belt Conference with 10.52 strikeouts per nine innings (min. 40 IP).<\/p>\n

Frieda is the fifth member of the 2025 Trojans headed to professional baseball. He joins Kansas City Royals eighth-rounder Brooks Bryan<\/dfn>, Chicago Cubs 15th-rounder Noah Edders<\/dfn>, Athletics 18th-rounder Jay Dill<\/dfn> and Minnesota Twins free agent Adam Falinski<\/dfn>.<\/p>\n
