Scooter Braun<\/strong>\u00a0isn\u2019t leaving any blank space for rumors.<\/p>\n

The music mogul addressed longtime speculation that he and his ex-wife\u00a0Yael Cohen<\/strong>\u00a0were the inspiration for\u00a0Taylor Swift<\/strong>\u2018s 2022 song \u201cVigilante S\u2013t,\u201d which tells the story of the \u201cCruel Summer\u201d singer helping a scorned woman get revenge on her cruel husband.<\/p>\n

And for Scooter, there\u2019s one major reason he says the track can\u2019t be based on what went down between him and Yael when they broke up in 2021 following seven years of marriage.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018Cause me and Yael talk every day,\u201d the 44-year-old explained during a July 17 episode of the\u00a0Question Everything<\/em>\u00a0podcast. \u201cMy ex-wife is one of my best friends. So, me and my ex-wife laugh at that stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

In fact, Scooter\u2014who shares kids\u00a0Jagger<\/strong>, 9,\u00a0Levi<\/strong>, 7, and\u00a0Hart<\/strong>, 5, with Yael\u2014said he and his former partner don\u2019t even like to refer to each other as \u201cex.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the mother of my children,\u201d he said. \u201cThat is my family for life. I have a tattoo on my finger that says \u2018same team\u2019 after my divorce because she and I are the same team for life. It\u2019s what we say to each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

And despite \u201ceveryone else kind of feeding into the fire\u201d of the rumor, Scooter emphasized that he \u201cnever thought it was about us.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGreat strategy move,\u201d the former manager added, \u201cbut no.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

When \u201cVigilante S\u2013t\u201d dropped in 2022, many fans speculated the song was based on\u00a0Taylor\u2019s long-running feud with Scooter, who finalized his divorce from Yael the same year and had been accused by the Grammy winner of \u201cstripping her of her life\u2019s work\u201d after his company Ithaca Holdings bought her original label Big Machine Records in 2019, ultimately gaining ownership of the masters for her first six albums. (Three years later, he sold the rights to Shamrock Capital.)<\/p>\n

\u201cShe needed cold hard proof so I gave her some,\u201d Taylor sings on the second verse of the\u00a0Midnights<\/em>\u00a0song. \u201cShe had the envelope, where you think she got it from? \/ Now she gets the house, gets the kids, gets the pride \/ Picture me thick as thieves with your ex-wife.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

And while Taylor has never named anyone specific as her inspiration for the song, she has since\u00a0re-gained ownership of her masters\u2014an accomplishment she made clear wouldn\u2019t have happened if Scooter was on the other end of the deal.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will be forever grateful to everyone at Shamrock Capital for being the first people to ever offer this to me,\u201d she wrote in\u00a0a letter on her website\u00a0announcing the purchase May 30. \u201cThe way they\u2019ve handled every interaction we\u2019ve had has been honest, fair, and respectful. This was a business deal to them, but I really felt like they saw it for what it was to me: My memories and my sweat and my handwriting and my decades of dreams.\u201d<\/p>\n
