Former Los Angeles Dodgers star pitcher Julio Ur\u00edas is seeking a return to MLB after he was reinstated Thursday for violating the league\u2019s policy on domestic violence and sexual assault.<\/p>\n
Ur\u00edas, the only player suspended twice under MLB\u2019s domestic violence and sexual assault policy, last played in MLB for the Dodgers on Sept. 1, 2023.<\/p>\n

Obviously, he\u2019ll have options that are open to him.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Ur\u00edas was arrested on Sept. 3, 2023, on suspicion of felony domestic violence after witness video showed him throwing his wife into a fence outside BMO Stadium in Los Angeles and taking a swing at her while bystanders tried to intervene.<\/p>\n He was placed on administrative leave by MLB for the final month of the 2023 season and became a free agent after his contract expired with the Dodgers.<\/p>\n He did not pitch in MLB in 2024.<\/p>\n Following his arrest, the Los Angeles County district attorney\u2019s office determined \u201cneither the victim\u2019s injuries nor the defendant\u2019s criminal history justify a felony filing,\u201d according to The Times.<\/p>\n However, the city attorney\u2019s office filed five misdemeanor charges against Ur\u00edas, including one count of spousal battery, two counts of domestic battery involving dating relationship, one count of assault and one count of false imprisonment.<\/p>\n He pleaded no contest to one count of domestic battery and the other four charges were dropped after he agreed to enter a yearlong domestic violence treatment program.<\/p>\n Ur\u00edas was also arrested in 2019 for an incident in which witnesses said he pushed his then-fiancee, but she said she fell.<\/p>\n No charges were filed, but he did agree to complete a similar domestic violence treatment program that year and was suspended for 20 games by MLB.<\/p>\n In March, MLB suspended Ur\u00edas for his 2023 domestic violence incident through the end of the 2025 All-Star break, which runs through Thursday.<\/p>\n Ur\u00edas, a 28-year-old lefty pitcher who recorded the final out of the Dodgers\u2019 World Series championship in 2020, is now seeking a second chance in MLB. It is believed multiple MLB teams have checked in on Ur\u00edas, according to The Times, but it remains unclear when, where or if he might sign with a team.<\/p>\n \u201cIt depends on how teams view the situation and view his skill,\u201d Boras said.<\/p>\n Ur\u00edas, a native of Culiacan, Mexico, made his MLB debut for the Dodgers at age 19 in 2016.
