After landing Jimmy Butler ahead of last season\u2019s NBA trade deadline, the Golden State Warriors have renewed optimism about their core. Last year\u2019s group was strong enough to rack up 48 wins and reach the Western Conference Semifinals. Next year\u2019s group is expected to be even better, but not without more roster improvements first.<\/p>\n

However, according to Clutch Points\u2019 Brett Siegel, the Warriors aren\u2019t done making moves. Siegel suggests Stephen Curry\u2019s brother, Seth, and former Philadelphia 76ers\u2019 star Ben Simmons as two players the Warriors are still possibly targeting in free agency.<\/p>\n

\u201cOutside of players like Malcolm Brogdon, Trey Lyles, and Gary Payton II, who we previously reported as potential free-agent targets for the Warriors this offseason, two other interesting names were brought up in conversations during the first two days of NBA Summer League: Seth Curry and Ben Simmons.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Simmons was a player whom the Sixers signed to a $170 million max-level extension, the three-time All-Star hasn\u2019t averaged over 10 points per game since his last All-Star appearance in 2021, which came before he missed an entire season with a back injury in 2022.<\/p>\n

Still, perhaps another coach, like Steve Kerr, can help maximize the defensive and distribution capabilities that Simmons has. Could he get the 28-year-old back to All-Star status? Probably not, but unlike several other free agents, Simmons has at least shown the ability to play at an elite level.<\/p>\n
