In just three seasons, Mitch Voit has cemented himself in the Michigan baseball team\u2019s record books. Spending time on the mound and across the diamond while providing essential power at the plate, Voit became a mainstay for the Wolverines. But at the close of the 2025 season, Voit\u2019s time at Michigan has come to an end as the star looks to embark on the next stage of his baseball career.<\/p>\n

Sunday marked the beginning of Voit\u2019s foray into professional baseball, as the New York Mets selected Voit at No. 38 overall in the MLB Draft.<\/p>\n

Voit began his career with the Wolverines primarily as a pitcher, earning his first career start on the mound against Indiana in an upset win in the 2023 Big Ten Tournament. But with just 10 appearances on the mound in his sophomore season, Voit made the decision to transition to position player and focus on his strengths at the plate \u2014 a decision that quickly paid dividends.<\/p>\n

In his sophomore year, Voit led the Wolverines in hits and total bases at 69 and 135, respectively. Voit established himself as a key offensive weapon in 2024, all while splitting his time between the mound and position play. It wasn\u2019t until his junior season rolled around that Voit\u2019s true offensive potential shone through.<\/p>\n

Voit was the only member of the Michigan team to start every competition in 2025, patrolling second base. Leading the Wolverines in eight offensive categories, including home runs, walks, and stolen bases, Voit was a key component at the top of Michigan\u2019s lineup. Despite the up-and-down nature of the Wolverines\u2019 2025 campaign, Voits aggressive offensive play only increased as the season wore on as he went 14-for-16 in stolen bases and secured 35 extra base hits.<\/p>\n

But beyond his offensive prowess, one of Voit\u2019s key assets is his adaptability. Voit has spent time as a designated hitter, behind first and second base and even held short stints in the outfield. Voit\u2019s dynamic ability was on display this season, as he locked down second base and became a key component of the Wolverines\u2019 infield. Recording just four errors in the entire season, Voit\u2019s athleticism was highlighted in the infield as he deftly covered his region of the diamond.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s no secret that the Mets have a true athlete in their hands in the form of Voit. During his time at Michigan, Voit has displayed his athleticism and adaptability time and time again. And if his momentum continues, Voit\u2019s next stage with the New York Mets organization will hold more opportunities for the Wolverines\u2019 star to shine.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n
