<\/p>\nLos Angeles Dodgers star Clayton Kershaw felt responsible for Max Muncy sustaining a knee injury the same night he recorded his 3,000th career strikeout.<\/p>\n

Just moments before Kershaw became the 20th pitcher in MLB history to join the exclusive club, Chicago White Sox outfielder Michael A. Taylor slid into Muncy\u2019s knee while trying to steal third base.<\/p>\n
Muncy exited the game and had to be assisted off the field with the help of a trainer. Kershaw then threw his third strikeout of the night, and received a standing ovation from an electric Dodger Stadium crowd.<\/p>\n
However, while the three-time Cy Young winner made history against the White Sox, Kershaw was thinking about his teammate.<\/p>\n
\u201cKersh came running up and gave me a big hug,\u201d Muncy said Tuesday during an appearance on Foul Territory. \u201cI was telling him \u2018Congrats\u2019 and he was sitting there saying, \u2018Dude, I\u2019m sorry.\u2019 I\u2019m like, what are you sorry for, it\u2019s not your fault. He goes, \u2018No, I let the guy get on second, I\u2019m sorry.\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n While Kershaw profusely apologized to Muncy, the Dodgers third baseman was adamant that the injury was not the southpaw\u2019s fault.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m like, no it\u2019s not your fault, man,\u201d Muncy continued. \u201cHe came up and gave me a big hug \u2026 especially for Kersh in that moment to come up and give me a hug, in that moment, that was awesome.
