The Chicago Bulls might be too good for their own good right now. That is the view of many fans and pundits alike, as the team has exceeded expectations and made a 5-7 start to the season, leaving them 6th in the East. The long-term plan seems to be a rebuild though.<\/p>\n
That is why they said goodbye to both DeMar DeRozan and Alex Caruso in the summer. And there have been suggestions that the organization will try to trade Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic later on in the season.<\/p>\n
The good news is that the likes of LaVine and Vucevic seem to be rebuilding their trade value, having made great starts to the season. LaVine has proven that he remains one of the most dynamic scorers in the league and can be an asset for many teams across the league.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Vucevic is averaging 20.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. In the Bleacher Report article ‘1 Trade Every NBA Team Should Propose Right Now’, Dan Favale suggested one that would see the Bulls receive Cole Anthony, Jonathan Isaac, Tristan da Silva, 2025 first-round pick (most favorable from Denver and Orlando; top-five protection through 2027; turns into two second-rounders if not conveyed) while the Magic would get Lavine and Torrey Craig.<\/p>\n
The trade cannot be completed until January 6. By then, the hope is that Paolo Banchero will be back from his injury. Banchero had made a remarkable start to the season before getting injured. With him on the court, the Magic are potential Championship contenders. And if they can add LaVine’s ability to score to that mix, it will take them up a level. As for the Bulls, it would be more about getting LaVine’s contract off their books.
