The Golden State Warriors technically haven’t added anyone this offseason, but they have lost Kevon Looney to the New Orleans Pelicans in free agency. One player they have their eyes on is Boston Celtics center Al Horford.<\/p>\n

Marc Stein<\/a>\u00a0reported on July 6 where things stand between Horford and the Warriors, writing, \u201cI continue to hear that Horford is destined to land in the Bay Area. That’s despite the fact that the Warriors currently have only the $5.7 million taxpayer midlevel to offer him.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Warriors have other issues to take care of in free agency as well, like Jonathan Kuminga’s restricted free agency, though it hasn’t been confirmed if that’s what is holding up Horford signing with them.<\/p>\n

While Horford technically isn’t a Warrior yet, Stephen Curry gave his thoughts on his potentially newest teammate while talking with\u00a0The Athletic’s Anthony Slater<\/a>. Curry praised the 30-year-old veteran.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a champion, great player,” Curry told Slater. “When\u2026if, when all that stuff happens, I\u2019ll talk about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Horford is coming off a season where he averaged nine points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 42.3% from the field and 36.3% from three. Boston also held him out of one game whenever they had a back-to-back, which they’ve been doing for the last three seasons.<\/p>\n

Curry hasn’t had the chance to play with many floor-spacing centers throughout his time with the Warriors. Among the last ones he played with was Horford’s former Celtics teammate, Jonas Jerebko.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
