{"id":73761,"date":"2025-06-27T08:16:24","date_gmt":"2025-06-27T08:16:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new365.azontree.com\/?p=73761"},"modified":"2025-06-27T08:16:24","modified_gmt":"2025-06-27T08:16:24","slug":"what-you-need-to-know-about-warriors-draft-pick-alex-toohey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new365.azontree.com\/?p=73761","title":{"rendered":"What you need to know about Warriors draft pick Alex Toohey"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/images2.minutemediacdn.com\/image\/upload\/c_crop,w_1314,h_739,x_333,y_119\/c_fill,w_720,ar_16:9,f_auto,q_auto,g_auto\/images\/voltaxMediaLibrary\/mmsport\/nba_draft\/01jhkgq97gavwhejgmrf.jpg\" alt=\"Alex Toohey Is a Student of the Game\" \/><\/p>\n<p>SAN FRANCISCO \u2013 Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy never saw Alex Toohey play in person for the Sydney Kings in Australia\u2019s National Basketball League.<\/p>\n<p>But that did not stop the team from going international with their first of two second-round picks in the 2025 NBA draft, choosing the Australian forward with the No. 52 overall selection.<\/p>\n<p>Though he intrigued many during the pre-draft process as a well-rounded 6-foot-8 forward who could do a little bit of everything on offense, it was his potential on the other end of the floor that piqued Dunleavy\u2019s interest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith our system and the way we play, he has the versatility to play multiple positions,\u201d Dunleavy told media on Thursday. \u201cHe\u2019s super versatile and creates a lot of plays, which is important for us defensively with Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler and Brandin Podziemski, we have guys who can disrupt, and this guy fits that mold.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Toohey joined fellow countrymen Rocco Zikarsky, Tyrese Proctor and Lachlan Olbrich as 2025 draft picks. He is now added to a forward rotation that also includes Moses Moody, Gui Santos and possibly Jonathan Kuminga.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what you need to know about Toohey.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Measurements:<\/strong> 6-foot-8, 223 pounds<\/p>\n<p><strong>Age:<\/strong> 21<\/p>\n<p><strong>Position:<\/strong> Small forward\/Power forward<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where is he from:<\/strong> Canberra, Australia<\/p>\n<p><strong>Statistics:<\/strong> 10.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.3 steals per game on 45\/30\/73 shooting splits.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Biography:<\/strong> Toohey attended the NBA Global Academy in Australia as a high schooler and was set to attend Gonzaga before joining Australia\u2019s National Basketball League\u2019s Next Stars Program. He won the NBL Next Generation Award last season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun fact:<\/strong> Toohey\u2019s first love was cricket, a sport most of his family members played.
