Ruben Amorim reportedly has plans to make Mason Mount a central figure in his Manchester United strategy.<\/p>\n

Amorim took charge of United on Monday, arriving at Carrington with a contract extending to 2027 after replacing Erik ten Hag. On his first day, it was confirmed that interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy had left the coaching staff following his unbeaten run, along with coaches Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Pieter Morel, as Amorim brings in familiar faces from his successful tenure at Sporting. The club thanked van Nistelrooy for his contributions after returning to assist Ten Hag this summer.<\/p>\n

This marked Amorim\u2019s first major decision, but *The Sun* has highlighted another unexpected move the 39-year-old manager may be planning. According to a new report, Amorim has significant plans for Mason Mount, who has struggled to make an impact at United since his \u00a355 million transfer from Chelsea.<\/p>\n

Mount, who took over the iconic No.7 shirt previously worn by Cristiano Ronaldo, had an injury-ridden season last year, making only 20 appearances and scoring once. This season has also seen limited action, with just six appearances and no call-up to the England squad.<\/p>\n

However, Amorim appears to see potential in Mount, appreciating his versatility and envisioning a role for him within a three-at-the-back formation. Mount thrived in a similar setup under Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea, where he was a key player in their 2021 Champions League victory. Ten Hag had initially hoped to pair him in midfield with Casemiro, but that combination struggled to yield results.<\/p>\n
