It seems that not much has changed in 10 years, as the singer-songwriter continues to dominate the global music industry, albeit in slightly different ways.<\/p>\n<p>In the spring of 2014, Swift was heavily promoting her album\u00a0<em>1989<\/em>, her first pure pop project. The title had already produced a number of smashes, and Swift was not slowing down.<\/p>\n<p>On the chart dated June 6, 2015,\u00a0\u201cBad Blood\u201d\u00a0rocketed from No. 53 to No. 1 on the Hot 100. As it did, Swift added to her growing collection of champions, while the artist featured on the tune earned his first.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-base embedly-align\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/embedly.forbes.com\/widgets\/media.html?src=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fembed%2FQcIy9NiNbmo%3Ffeature%3Doembed&amp;display_name=YouTube&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DQcIy9NiNbmo&amp;image=https%3A%2F%2Fi.ytimg.com%2Fvi%2FQcIy9NiNbmo%2Fhqdefault.jpg&amp;type=text%2Fhtml&amp;schema=youtube\" scrolling=\"no\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<div class=\"vestpocket nsO6K\">\n<div class=\"Sg4hO\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>When \u201cBad Blood\u201d bolted to the summit on the Hot 100, Kendrick Lamar collected his first champion on the list of the most-consumed songs in the nation.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to that point, he had proved himself to be not just a superstar, but one of the most interesting musicians in hip-hop.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019d earned critical acclaim and commercial success, but he had yet to top the Hot 100.<\/p>\n<p>Much of Lamar\u2019s output by that point had been his own, as he was not yet a big enough draw for well-known acts outside of the rap vertical to recruit. Swift jumped on his growing popularity and talent, and his verse on \u201cBad Blood\u201d lent the track some credibility.<\/p>\n<p>The collaboration turned the pop tune into a hip-hop\/pop hybrid, making it more palatable for a larger audience.<\/p>\n<p>Lamar&#8217;s presence certainly helped Swift send \u201cBad Blood\u201d to No. 1 on the Hot 100.
