Serena Williams\u2019 eldest daughter may not be a fan of fairy tales and princesses, but she certainly thinks\u00a0Taylor Swift\u00a0is \u201cEnchanted.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The tennis champion, 42, spoke at the\u00a0INBOUND\u00a0event with podcast host and editor Kara Swisher about\u00a0Serena Ventures, the venture capital fund backed and founded by her in 2017, at HubSpot\u2019s annual gathering in Boston.<\/p>\n

During the conversation, the\u00a0mother of two\u00a0revealed that her first born isn\u2019t into the typical kids\u2019 entertainment.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy daughter just turned 7. She\u2019s not into princesses, she\u2019s into Taylor Swift,\u201d Williams said, adding, \u201cI am, too.\u201d<\/p>\n

The retired professional athlete shares daughters\u00a0Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., 7, and\u00a0Adira River\u00a0Ohanian, 1, with her husband, Reddit co-founder\u00a0Alexis Ohanian.<\/p>\n

She also discussed the challenges of raising two young girls with all of the \u201cnegative energy out there.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a scary world. It\u2019s a digital world for kids right now. I\u2019m always on with my daughter, but we don\u2019t allow her on certain platforms,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s so interesting that with everything available online and the access that kids have \u2014 in a second, you never know what can come to them,\u201d the Olympic gold medalist added. \u201cLike I said, I\u2019m trying to think positively. I feel like we might try to take it slow with her and go a little bit slower with electronics, and just let her be a kid for as long as you can.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though the sports star keeps a close eye on her girls, she admitted she\u2019s always open for parenting tips.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease give it to me, thank you very much!\u201d Williams said while laughing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have any [advice],\u201d she continued. \u201cWake up, that\u2019s all I do. I could barely wake up today! I feel like everybody\u2019s a champion. You don\u2019t have to be winning Wimbledon or a gold medal to be a champion. Being a champion is really just being there for your kids. I think that\u2019s a huge champion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Williams also shared how she\u2019s able to roll with life\u2019s unpredictable punches, telling\u00a0INBOUND<\/em>\u00a0attendees about how a delayed flight meant less time with her kids.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went home and I made lunch for the kids, and I knew that I wouldn\u2019t be there to see them eat it, but I knew I made it, and that made me feel good. And I tell you, that made me feel like a champion mom,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

However, since retiring from tennis in 2022, the\u00a0Wyn Beauty\u00a0founder still applies lessons learned from the sport to her everyday life.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing a champion is understanding that you\u2019re not going to be a champion every single day. There\u2019s no way you can win every single day. I need to take this advice to myself,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it\u2019s really just about giving your best effort in whatever you\u2019re doing, just do the best that you can on that day. Some days, you will be able to make a better effort.
