Although the Los Angeles Dodgers have the best record in Major League Baseball, president of baseball operations\u00a0Andrew Friedman\u00a0doesn\u2019t usually sit idly by when the trade deadline rolls around.<\/p>\n

The Dodgers reportedly\u00a0discussed a potential trade\u00a0with the Chicago White Sox for centerfielder Luis Robert Jr. earlier this year. The return package\u00a0included outfielder James Outman\u00a0and an unnamed top Dodgers prospect.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the two teams put aside the trade discussions last month. At the time, Robert had not been playing well,\u00a0hitting .178 with one home run, four runs batted in and a .536 OPS.<\/p>\n

Now, the White Sox are starting to get some traction on a trade for the center fielder as he\u2019s heated up as of late. The New York Mets reportedly inquired about Robert, and in return, Chicago is hoping to land Mets top prospect Blake Tidwell, per\u00a0MLB\u00a0insider\u00a0Bob Nightengale.<\/p>\n

While the Dodgers have the best record in baseball, the Mets are not far behind, sitting at 26-15. The two National League teams met in the Championship Series last October, and if both continue to succeed as the season progresses, they have a good chance of facing off in the playoffs once again.<\/p>\n

The Dodgers have the best roster in baseball, but the need for outfield depth is even more clear with Teoscar Hernandez and Tommy Edman on the injured list<\/p>\n

However, the latest update on the Dodgers\u2019 pursuits of an outfielder indicate the front office is eyeing\u00a0Kyle Tucker in free agency\u00a0this winter.<\/p>\n
