Kansas City Chiefs<\/a>\u00a0C Creed Humphrey has been playing beside Joe Thuney for his entire NFL career, but 2025 will mark the first season that he’ll have a new starter at left guard beside him.<\/p>\n

Andy Reid announced to the world on Monday that\u00a0the Chiefs would officially switch Kingsley Suamataia from left tackle to left guard<\/a>. According to Reid, he’ll compete with Mike Caliendo for the starting job.<\/p>\n

Suamataia played left guard in the Week 18 game against the\u00a0Denver Broncos<\/a>\u00a0last season,\u00a0allowing a single pressure on 24 pass-blocking snaps. In early December, Chiefs OL coach Andy Heck told reporters that\u00a0Suamataia had been working at guard in practice<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Humphrey has seen Suamataia in action at guard in practice, so he has a pretty good idea of what to expect come the 2025 NFL season. But what exactly is he expecting, given what we’ve seen from Suamataia so far?<\/p>\n

Chiefs C Creed Humphrey not giving up on Kingsley Suamataia in wake of position change<\/h2>\n

When asked about Suamataia’s position switch, Humphrey sent a strong message about the second-year O-lineman. He made it abundantly clear that he isn’t ready to give up on Suamataia and that Chiefs Kingdom shouldn’t be either. In Humphrey’s eyes, Suamataia is too talented and hungry to fail.<\/p>\n

“Yeah, he’s an extremely talented player, first and foremost, and he strives to be really good every single day,” Humphrey said of Suamataia. “You know, he shows up with the right attitude, he shows up with the right mindset. So with a guy like him, with how talented he is, and his work ethic, things usually turn out to be pretty good, so we’re excited for him.”<\/p>\n

Whether Suamataia can beat out Caliendo for the starting job remains to be seen, but his teammates are excited about the potential behind this position switch. He has the tools to be successful; it’s just about putting them together with the opportunity in front of him during the offseason.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
