The 162-game season features bumps in the road for every MLB team, and the New York Mets are no exception. They’ve now lost two straight games, and center fielder Jose Siri (tibia) is out indefinitely after getting hurt on Saturday, via Newsday’s Tim Healey.<\/p>\n
Tyrone Taylor, who’s slashing .163\/.200\/.209, has manned center in the meantime. The 6-foot-1-inch, 218-pounder is also a backup right fielder along with Starling Marte, who’s slashing .167\/.278\/.300 with one homer and six RBI.<\/p>\n
Starting left fielder Brandon Nimmo could also fill in at center in Siri’s absence. The 32-year-old sounded off about a possible switch after the Mets’ (11-7) 4-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday, via SNY.<\/p>\n
“I’ll play wherever they want me to,” he said. “If that requires center field, then that’s where I’ll be. But we’ll see how they wanna write things up as we move forward.”<\/p>\n
“I honestly don’t care. They can switch me back and forth if they want,” he continued. “Like I said, wherever’s best for the team, that’s where I’ll play that day. It doesn’t take any skin off my nose. I don’t have the pride like that, I just want to help the team win.”<\/p>\n
“I’ll play wherever they want me to. If that requires center field, then that’s where I’ll be.”<\/p>\n
