Richard Fitts was amid a strong outing for the Red Sox when the Boston starter exited the game in the sixth inning due to right shoulder pain.<\/p>\n

Red Sox manager Alex Cora updated reporters on Fitts following Boston\u2019s 3-2 loss to the Chicago White Sox at Rate Field.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has right shoulder pain,\u201d Cora said. \u201cHe\u2019s going to go to Boston tomorrow, and we\u2019ll where we\u2019re at. He\u2019s gonna get an MRI; I think it\u2019s Monday, and we\u2019ll know from there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fitts finished five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and one walk with five strikeouts. Having the starting pitcher exit early with any injury is always concerning.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhenever you have to come out of a game and talk about MRIs, you always get concerned,\u201d Cora explained. \u201cHe really wanted to keep going, but my job is to take care of my players. Hopefully, we stopped at the right time, and he doesn\u2019t miss too much time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old right-hander shared his update with the media in the visitors\u2019 clubhouse.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not sure yet,\u201d Fitts said of how he is concerned with. \u201cIt\u2019s really disappointing for it to happen, especially in the game that we were having today. I feel confident in our team and our staff that they\u2019ll make the right decisions, and we\u2019re going to find out what\u2019s going on.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fitts had thrown his 76th pitch when something didn\u2019t feel right.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomething different that I hadn\u2019t felt before,\u201d he explained. \u201cI felt like I was in a groove, and then I felt like I wasn\u2019t able to throw my best pitches, so I had to come out there.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s close to the shoulder, but we\u2019re going to figure out exactly what\u2019s going on and kind of go from there. We\u2019ve got a good staff, and we\u2019ll figure out what\u2019s going on.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Red Sox have one more game against the White Sox before traveling to Tampa Bay for a three-game set with the Rays. Fitts is hoping to have the injury figured out before his next start.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never missed a start in my professional career,\u201d Fitts said. \u201cI take a lot of pride in my health, and I hope nothing\u2019s going on.<\/p>\n
