The 2025 NFL Draft is inching closer by the day<\/h2>\n

A system called the “common draft” was implemented for the AFL and NFL in 1967, creating a joint draft between the two leagues while establishing the precursor for what has become the marquee event of the offseason.<\/p>\n

The two leagues merged in 1970, and the rest is history.<\/p>\n

Over the next several weeks leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft, we’re going to take a look back at who the Kansas City Chiefs have selected in each round since the event’s beginnings 58 years ago.<\/p>\n

Let’s begin with the seventh round, where Kansas City currently owns three selections (No. 226, No. 251 and No. 257 overall).<\/p>\n

– Thirty-four of Kansas City’s 63 seventh-round draft picks went on to appear in a game for the Chiefs.<\/p>\n

– Tailback Isiah Pacheco, despite being the 22nd running back selected in 2022, went on to record the second-most rushing yards for any rookie seventh-round pick in league history. Only Philadelphia Eagles’ tailback Johnny Johnson (926 in 1990) tallied more during his rookie campaign. Overall, Pacheco has recorded 2,528 scrimmage yards during his three seasons with the Chiefs.<\/p>\n

– Cornerback Jaylen Watson has appeared in 38 games (14 starts) for Kansas City over the last three seasons.<\/p>\n

– 2019 seventh-round pick Nick Allegretti appeared in 74 games (13 starts) for the Chiefs during his five-year tenure with Kansas City from 2019-23. Notably, Allegretti stepped in for Joe Thuney at left guard during the AFC Championship Game and Super Bowl LVIII in the Chiefs march to a championship in 2023.<\/p>\n

– The Chiefs have selected one future Pro Bowler in the seventh round since 1967: defensive back Kevin Ross, who was drafted in 1984. Ross made the Pro Bowl in 1989 and 1990. He was inducted into the Chiefs Hall of Fame in 2011.<\/p>\n

– Kevin Ross wore a Chiefs’ uniform in the most games of any seventh-round pick in franchise history, taking the field 156 times. Offensive tackle Dave Szott (142) and defensive back Eric Warfield (115) are the only other seventh-round selections to appear in at least 100 games for Kansas City.<\/p>\n
