The Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs are heading into the 2025 season with surprisingly similar expectations.\u00a0 Of course, Kansas City expects to be a powerhouse in the AFC and return to the Super Bowl for the fourth straight season.\u00a0 Green Bay is coming off back-to-back playoff appearances and hope to put all the pieces together this year to make a run at the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

However, these two teams could be in business well before the season starts.<\/p>\n

Currently, all indications point to the Packers parting ways with Alexander. Though it has not been made official, that has been the expectation all off-season:<\/p>\n

Nate Hobbs, the former Las Vegas Raiders\u2019 cornerback, was signed to a four-year, $48 million contract in free agency. He will help replace the loss of Alexander, but Green Bay already needed help in the secondary with Alexander on the roster.<\/p>\n

Keeping that in mind, there is a new trade target that has been suggested for the Packers.<\/p>\n

Pro Football Focus\u00a0recently named cornerback Jaylen Watson<\/strong> as the top trade asset for the\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs. Now,\u00a0David Latham of Last Word on Sports has named Green Bay as a team that could look to acquire Watson.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Watson would be a solid addition for the Packers. He\u2019s not a \u201cstar\u201d at this point in his career, but he\u2019s capable of playing a consistent role.<\/p>\n

During the 2024 NFL season, the\u00a026-year-old cornerback played in just six games. Back in 2023, however, Watson played in 16 games and racked up 33 tackles, two sacks, and six defended passes.<\/p>\n

Green Bay will need more cornerback depth than it currently has. The Packers could target that cornerback depth in the 2025 NFL Draft, but a player like Watson could make a lot of sense as well.<\/p>\n

Expect to continue hearing rumors about Green Bay as the draft approaches. Gutekunst could very well look to swing a trade if the right one presents itself.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This type of move could be big for Green Bay\u2019s defense.\u00a0 At the very least it would give them even more flexibility in the 2025 NFL Draft.\u00a0 Here is a full look at Watson\u2019s career stats:<\/p>\n
