Tyler Hilton is talking Taylor Swift.<\/p>\n
The 41-year-old One Tree Hill actor and singer got candid about his past with the 35-year-old music superstar in a new interview.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was doing an interview with a country magazine and they were talking about this girl Taylor Swift that just came out who was, like, 15. I heard her song \u2018Tim McGraw\u2019 and I was so into it,\u201d he recalled to Us.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat first record was so good to me,\u201d he remembered. \u201cIt sounds so dumb, but you have to be brave enough to write the lyrics like she did on that first record. They\u2019re just not something that a professional songwriter would think. \u2018When you think\u00a0Tim McGraw<\/strong>, I hope you think my favorite song.\u2019 I just would never use\u00a0Tim McGraw<\/strong>\u00a0on a song. It\u2019s so cool. I told [the magazine], \u2018Oh, by the way, that little thing you did on that new girl\u00a0Taylor Swift<\/strong>, I\u2019m actually a huge fan of her song. She\u2019s such a good songwriter. \u2026 How many 15 year olds are actually good songwriters?\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Taylor<\/strong>\u00a0herself turned out to be a \u201cbig fan\u201d of\u00a0Tyler<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t know this, but she had watched all my videos on YouTube, like, all these little skits I did. Her manager reached out and was like, \u2018Wait, this girl\u00a0Taylor Swift<\/strong>\u00a0is actually a huge\u00a0Tyler<\/strong>\u00a0fan. She\u2019s freaking out that you mentioned her in this magazine.\u2019 And I was like,\u2019Oh, that\u2019s so adorable,\u2019\u201d he continued, revealing that\u00a0Taylor<\/strong>\u2018s manager invited him to her show at \u201ca little country bar in Southern California.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Tyler\u00a0<\/strong>attended and\u00a0Taylor<\/strong>\u00a0revealed that she had been performing his cover of \u201cMissing You\u201d on stage, and asked him to perform with her that night in 2007.<\/p>\n \u201c[She was] a very forward 15-year-old,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cShe literally corners me on stage and goes, \u2018I didn\u2019t want to ask you backstage \u2019cause I was afraid you\u2019d say no, but would you be in my next music video?\u2019 \u2026 That\u2019s how I ended up in the \u2018Teardrops On My Guitar\u2019 music video. And after that she was like, \u2018Oh, I\u2019m doing some shows, would you want to come open for me?\u2019 And she just kept getting bigger and bigger.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n They continued to stay in touch afterward.<\/p>\n \u201cI was just charmed by her and her family. We became close and then when I moved to Nashville, they let me live on their boat and live with them for a little while when I first moved to Nashville,\u201d he recalled.<\/p>\n \u201cThey were just, like, the\u00a0Swifts<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 like, my buds \u2014 and their little teenage daughter was a fan. And I was like, \u2018Aw, that\u2019s so sweet.\u2019 And now she\u2019s the biggest star in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cShe was playing me songs in her bedroom out of her diary for her second record,\u201d he remembered.<\/p>\n \u201cShe was playing me \u2018White Horse\u2019 and it was crazy because I\u2019m in her bedroom and I\u2019m like, \u2018Whoa, this girl is actually, like, princess, fairy, unicorn girl.\u2019 It\u2019s not an act \u2014 she actually had her songs written in, like, a fluffy diary and she is that nerd, you know what I mean? That\u2019s what\u2019s so sweet about her and I think is responsible for her longevity \u2014 it\u2019s not an act. She\u2019s actually that much of a nerd and it\u2019s so endearing.\u201d<\/p>\n Tyler<\/strong>\u00a0says he \u201cactually can\u2019t believe she became as famous\u201d as she did.<\/p>\n \u201cWe all collectively thought she was so adorable. It is like when the nerdy girl in high school becomes famous, she is that earnest. She\u2019s like, \u2018Do you wanna hear another song outta my diary?\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh, OK.\u2019 And they were all really good, but it was just like, \u2018This is so funny.\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Watch their video together\u2026<\/p>\n
