Kansas City Chiefs\u00a0head coach\u00a0Andy Reid\u00a0has a lot of work ahead of him to get the Chiefs to Super Bowl LX. One of the players who will now be a part of that work is veteran tight end\u00a0Travis Kelce.Prior to the Super Bowl there were rumors that Kelce would retire at the end of it all, marking an end to his career after 12 seasons in the\u00a0NFL. But he surprised many by announcing he would return for a 13th season.It was welcome news to head coach Andy Reid.<\/p>\n

Appearing on The Bettor Angle, the Chiefs head coach said that Kelce made it clear that he’s “all-in” on the 2025 season. Reid said that he would love to add Kelce to his coaching staff whenever he does call it a career.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe said he was coming back, and he\u2019s all in,\u201d Reid said. \u201cWhatever he does on the field, the greatness that he is there, he\u2019s even that much better off the field. He\u2019s a great teammate and a great human being, one of those guys you\u2019d say\u2014he\u2019s not going to do it, but one of those guys you\u2019d say, I\u2019d love to have him on my staff when he\u2019s done playing.\u201d<\/p>\n

2024 was hardly a banner year for Kelce on the field though. Despite putting up some respectable numbers with 97 receptions for 823 yards and three touchdowns, his efficiency as a pass catcher dropped substantially from what the Chiefs had been used to.<\/p>\n

Kelce averaged career-lows in yards per catch, yards per game and touchdown receptions while the team had to scratch and claw its way to the best record in the league.<\/p>\n

Kelce may be the starter in 2025, but the Chiefs would benefit greatly from preparing for life without Kelce beyond this season.<\/p>\n

For the time being though, Kelce is back with the Chiefs and intends to give the 2025 season everything he’s got. Whether that everything is enough to get the Chiefs back into the Super Bowl remains to be seen.<\/p>\n

It sure looks like even once his playing days are over, he’ll still be welcome in the Chiefs’ organization.<\/p>\n<\/article>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
