The 2024 season ended with a World Series MVP and a historic walk-off grand slam for Los Angeles Dodgers star Freddie Freeman, but the road to becoming a champion was anything but easy.<\/p>\n

The journey to the Fall Classic was arguably one of the most arduous and emotional periods for the Freeman family. In July, Freeman\u2019s three-year-old son, Maximus, was in and out of the hospital soon after the All-Star break.<\/p>\n
On Aug. 1, Freddie and Chelsea Freeman announced their son had been diagnosed with Guillain-Barr\u00e9 syndrome. A few days later, Freeman returned to the lineup and received a standing ovation from Dodgers fans during his first at-bat of the game.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can\u2019t thank the Dodgers fans enough,\u201d the first baseman said after the game. \u201cMade it a lot more special to be able to come back and do it in a win. Made it really hard to hit in that first at-bat.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen you\u2019re crying on a Major League Baseball field, it\u2019s really hard to hit a pitch that\u2019s coming.\u201d<\/p>\n
Prior to the game, Freeman had given an update on his son, wearing a shirt that read #MaxStrong.<\/p>\n
\u201cMax is \u2014 he\u2019s doing all right,\u201d Freeman said in August. \u201cHe\u2019s doing OK. His personality\u2019s back. He\u2019s Max. He\u2019s doing good in that aspect. But he\u2019s got to relearn how to do pretty much everything. Terrible syndrome, Guillain-Barr\u00e9.\u201d<\/p>\n
A week ago, the Freemans celebrated Max\u2019s and his brother Brandon\u2019s fourth birthdays. Chelsea Freeman shared a promising update regarding Max.<\/p>\n
