It was during this particular era that\u00a0Swift held surprise listening parties for fans at her various houses. While most stars would be terrified to let fans into their homes, Swift had a special screening process beforehand.<\/p>\n

Taylor Swift Made The Move From Country To Pop With Her \u20181989\u2019 Album<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prior to her album \u201c1989,\u201d Swift had already been delving into pop territory. Even though her brand of country music always incorporated pop elements, she was starting to stray away from country with her album \u201cRed\u201d in 2012. She scored big hits with the singles \u201cWe Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,\u201d \u201c22,\u201d and \u201cI Knew You Were Trouble.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among her collaborators on \u201cRed\u201d was pop songwriting genius Max Martin. Swift enlisted him again for \u201c1989,\u201d\u00a0as she told\u00a0Billboard<\/em>\u00a0in 2014.<\/p>\n

While Swift was happy with the album, not everyone on her team was as enthusiastic.<\/p>\n

In order to get fans excited for her upcoming album release, Swift held surprise listening parties for her fans. She called these parties \u201cThe \u20181989\u2019 Secret Sessions\u201d and they took place at Swift\u2019s various homes. These included Los Angeles, New York, Rhode Island, Nashville, and her London hotel room. The fans got to hear the album months before the release.<\/p>\n

Swift fan Sammie Carter was at Swift\u2019s Los Angeles home\u00a0for one of the listening parties. She would detail her experience on her Tumblr blog.<\/p>\n
